I WALK, I WRITE

When I go walking, my mind is cooking on my YA novel. When I get back home, I try to get it all "on paper". Here's a brainstormer exercise:

1.) Set one character in a surrounding (home, cafe, street).
2.) Imagine what is in that space and list it. If it's a cafe, list the coffee maker, the customers, the wet towels. Find photos on Google.
3.) Make a Photoshop collage

Congrats! you now have a visual model to write yr next session.

  1. what a great idea! I love those easy to do ideas. When I met author A. LaFaye, she gave this simple bit of advice: If you want your character to go through a door, but you don't know what's on the other side of that door, wait to write until you do know.
