Ever start a story that you like without knowing much about the genre? Welll, that's what happened to me about eight years ago. I began researching France in the 1680's on La Bibliothèque nationale de France for an ideal that I wanted to develop.

Based on a regional myth, I was intrigued by the story of a young noble girl who boarded a ship to New France dressed as a boy. She was buried on top of Petit Jean Mountain in a land far from everyone she'd known and loved. What a great idea for a book or two!

My working title: WE ARE ALL SAVAGES: The Legend of Petit Jean

I hope this fictional version will do her justice.
